Let us give you a few important tips when choosing the perfect Wedding Cakes.

Every guest that comes to your wedding is going to expect a piece of cake, and you’re probably going to want a beautiful one to look at in your wedding photographs for the many years to come.

Wedding cakes don’t have to be very extravagant, but they do have to be something you love. Here are some tips so you can choose the perfect one for you.

Before you start going for tastings and deciding on icings, you first want to choose the design of your cake and more specifically, the shape of it. Weddings cakes are traditionally round, tiered layers but they don’t have to be.

Today there really are no rules on wedding cakes. So if you want only one tier, no tier, or a diamond-shape, you can have it! It’s important to remember however, that a square or round cake is usually chosen because this is the easiest and fastest to cut and serve.

So, before you choose that octagonal vertical cake, take a minute to imagine how you’re going to cut that in front of all your guests. If you don’t mind working around some angles, go for it!

Traditionally, wedding cakes have also been white cake with white icing. But remember that weddings are becoming much more contemporary. So if you have another color in mind, just let your baker know and they’ll work with it.

Your baker is the most important person when it comes to your wedding cake, and choosing a good one is very important. Make sure that you ask to see their portfolio, that you can talk to past clients, that you can have tastings to see which cake you like best, and that they can custom-make your cake.

Also make sure to ask about all the little extras, such as whether or not they’ll deliver and set it up, and what extra charges are not included with the price!

Are DIY Photos Ever Okay?

Lots of people like the idea of having disposable cameras on the reception tables so that the guests can take all the wedding pictures for you, and all you'll have to pay for are the cameras and the printing costs. Or, they like to set up a stand in the corner of the room with a camera and a tripod and allow people to come and take pictures.

These ideas are great, and are certainly very fun reminders of your special day. But remember, you don't want to focus solely on DIY photos. Doing that will only ensure that you only have pictures of Uncle Bill making silly faces, or of a guest at your wedding that your nephew grew especially partial to.

DIY wedding photos are great, and they're becoming more and more popular every day. But even if you're using DIY photos, still have a professional wedding photographer on the grounds that can take the beautiful shots that wedding albums are made of, and to make sure that you're happy with all of the pictures after your big day!
